Hello there and welcome. I'm sure you have many questions, so I shall field them here.
Where am I? You are on a blog; your physical location is unknown to me (At a guess, I'd say in your home).
Who are you? I am Chris and I am the author of this blog.
What is this 'blog' you speak of? Etymologically, I think blog is a portmanteau of web and log. As pormanteaus go, I think its pretty strained, but I'm guessing 'weog' wasn't very marketable. More specifically, you're on my blog; a blog about books.
A blog about books? Where's the USP? Right, I'm going to have to look up what USP means, but I think you're asking me why I have decided to write a blog about books when there's so many out there. Well, despite being proudly literate for just over 20 years, I have only recently recognised just how awesome books are. Unfortunately, other people came to this realisation this way before me, and I have often found myself languishing in the corners of erudite circles of conversation where others members coo over the works of the literary greats.
So, in true supervillain fashion, I set about 'making them all see' and busily began playing catch up. In doing so, I realised that there must be others like me, desperate to knock on the doors of the intelligensia, invite themselves in and share their sage hors d'oeuvres. Hmm, knowledgey.
Riiiight. So what this blog going to do? Sorry, I lost myself there. This blog is going to document all that great books I read and provide a lovely little review. Oh, and don't worry, I'll try to do this in as frothy a way I can muster; telling you the prevailing themes of the book (sex/violence/violent sex), giving some handy quotations, comparing it to more accessible forms of art (Do you remember that episode of Family Guy? Well its kind of like that,) and generally making you relevant once again amongst smarter people!
Oh, that's exactly what I needed. I thought as much. I mean, can you imagine their agog faces when you actually join in with their discussion on Fitzgerald's perspicuous rendering of the American Dream?
Wow. By the way, will I be the only one reading this thing? That's highly likely, Mum.
